What MealSync provides

MealSync is a nutrition self-tracking service. It turns user-provided meal inputs into editable nutrition estimates, lets users review and correct the estimate, and can sync the reviewed nutrition record to Google Health when the user has an eligible paid account and has connected Google Health.

Supported inputs may include text, photos, receipts, menus, labels, files, and voice notes. MealSync creates estimates from the available context; it does not guarantee that the estimate is complete or correct.

User review before sync

Users are responsible for reviewing meal titles, meal time, meal type, calories, macros, and assumptions before saving or syncing a record. If a user changes the meal description or assumptions, MealSync may ask the user to update the estimate before syncing. If a user intentionally changes the nutrition numbers directly, those manual numbers can be saved and synced as the user-reviewed record.

No medical advice

MealSync is for personal nutrition self-tracking only. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical, dietetic, diagnostic, treatment, or other healthcare advice. Users should not use or rely on MealSync for medical or health-related decisions or applications, including eating-disorder treatment, clinical nutrition plans, disease management, medication decisions, or emergency situations.

Sensitive nutrition data and consent

MealSync is not a healthcare provider. Meal inputs and nutrition estimates are processed to provide the user-requested nutrition self-tracking service. Because meal photos, files, voice notes, nutrition estimates, and Google Health sync records can be sensitive and may in some contexts reveal health-related information, MealSync treats them as sensitive health-adjacent data.

Where this information qualifies as data concerning health under Article 9 GDPR, MealSync relies on the user's explicit consent for meal estimation and Google Health sync workflows. Users remain in control of whether they submit meal inputs, create estimates, connect Google Health, sync reviewed records, disconnect Google Health, or delete MealSync-controlled meal records.

Accounts and access

MealSync uses Google sign-in. Users must keep their Google account secure and should use the same Google account for MealSync sign-in and Google Health connection unless MealSync explicitly supports a different setup.

Subscriptions and payment

Paid features may include saved meal history, reviewed estimates, account persistence, and the Google Health sync workflow. Prices are shown before checkout. Consumer prices are intended to include applicable taxes where required unless the checkout clearly states otherwise.

Payments, invoices, taxes, renewals, payment method updates, cancellations, withdrawal/refund handling where available, and the customer billing portal are handled by Polar. Polar acts as the checkout provider and merchant of record for the sale. Subscriptions renew for the selected billing period until cancelled. Cancellation stops future renewals; access may continue until the end of the already-paid period unless Polar, these Terms, or mandatory law require otherwise.

Before opening Polar checkout, MealSync asks users to accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy and to acknowledge that the purchase is a recurring digital subscription through Polar, the merchant of record, which renews until cancelled.

MealSync also asks users to request immediate access to the digital service before the 14-day withdrawal period ends and to acknowledge that, once performance has begun, withdrawal and refund rights may be limited as described in these Terms and Polar checkout terms, without affecting mandatory consumer rights.

If an account is deleted while MealSync knows of an active Polar subscription, MealSync first attempts to set that subscription to cancel at period end. If this cancellation attempt fails, account deletion is paused and the user is asked to cancel through Polar before deleting the MealSync account.

MealSync may change plan features or prices for future billing periods. If a price change affects an active subscription, the user will be informed before the change takes effect where required by law or Polar checkout rules. Price changes do not change a billing period that has already been paid.

Withdrawal and refunds

Consumers in the EU/EEA generally have a statutory right to withdraw from distance contracts within 14 days. MealSync is a digital service. Where a digital service or digital content begins immediately at the user's request before the withdrawal period ends, refund consequences depend on the consumer-law classification of the purchase, the user's checkout acknowledgement, the Polar checkout terms, and mandatory consumer rights.

Subscription cancellation stops future renewals at the end of the current paid billing period unless Polar, these Terms, or mandatory law require a different result. Cancelling a subscription does not automatically delete the MealSync account or remove meal history.

Refunds, withdrawal processing, payment records, invoices, taxes, and disputes for purchases through Polar checkout are handled by Polar as merchant of record. MealSync will assist users who contact info@getmealsync.app with refund or withdrawal questions, but any payment refund may need to be processed by Polar. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer, withdrawal, refund, warranty, digital-service, or other statutory rights that cannot legally be limited.

Google Health connection

Google Health sync is optional and requires user authorization. Before starting the connection flow, MealSync asks for explicit consent to process Google Health nutrition sync records for the optional sync workflow. MealSync asks only for the permission needed for the nutrition sync feature. Users can disconnect Google Health in MealSync or manage app permissions through their Google account. If a synced MealSync meal is deleted, MealSync attempts to delete the matching nutrition record from Google Health when it has enough information to do so.

Account deletion

Account deletion is irreversible once completed. It signs the user out, anonymizes the MealSync account profile, removes saved meals from normal MealSync history, deletes uploaded source files controlled by MealSync where possible, and records a privacy request audit entry. Polar may keep buyer payment, invoice, tax, refund, and merchant-of-record records under Polar's terms and applicable law. Google Health records may still need to be managed through Google if automatic deletion cannot be completed.

Service availability and conformity

MealSync is provided as a digital service with reasonable care and skill. Nutrition estimates are generated from user-provided inputs and available context, so they may be incomplete, inaccurate, or unsuitable for a user's specific health, dietetic, or medical needs. MealSync does not provide medical, dietetic, diagnostic, or treatment advice.

We aim to keep the service available, secure, and working as described, but access can be interrupted by maintenance, provider outages, security issues, or changes by Google, Polar, OpenAI, Cloudflare, browsers, or device platforms. MealSync may change as the product improves.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for intent, gross negligence, personal injury, fraud, or any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited. Austrian/EU digital-service conformity rights and mandatory consumer remedies remain unaffected.

MealSync may suspend, restrict, or terminate access, or cancel access if a user materially breaches these Terms, fails to maintain a paid subscription for paid features, creates security or abuse risk, uses the service unlawfully, or if suspension is necessary to comply with law, provider requirements, or platform safety obligations. MealSync may also discontinue, withdraw, or refuse access to the service or specific features where this is reasonably necessary for product, operational, legal, safety, or provider reasons. Where reasonable and legally possible, MealSync will give notice or an opportunity to resolve the issue. Mandatory consumer, refund, data-protection, and other statutory rights remain unaffected.

Mandatory rights

Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer, digital-service, data-protection, or other statutory rights that cannot legally be limited by contract.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by Austrian law, excluding conflict-of-law rules, except that consumers retain any mandatory protections of the country in which they habitually reside.

Alternative dispute resolution

We are not obliged or committed to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration body, unless mandatory law requires otherwise.
